Oxfam blooms at Tatton Flower Show

Manchester Oxfam Campaigns group volunteers are attending Tatton Flower Show to promote the new Grow campaign. Oxfam has it's own show garden which highlights the solutions being used by communities experiencing flooding to make sure they have enough food to eat.
This highlights a bigger issue - that 1 billion people in the world are starving. The way we producte and distribute food and manage agriculture needs fixing.
For more information about the Grow campaign and the Gold award winning garden visit www.oxfam.org.uk.

Facebook urgent action!

If you're on facebook please take this urgent action... If you're not you can still visit www.oxfam.org.uk/mumsmatter to take support the campaign!

Today the Millennium Development Goal Summit started in New York - to discuss progress that the world is making towards its goals in overcoming poverty. But goal five for maternal health is doing the worst – 1000 mums are still dying unnecessarily each day.

You can take action to raise awareness of this important issue!

1. Change your profile picture to the attached image of a pregnant statue of liberty until 24th of September

Come and see our exhibition...

We're displaying the amazing giant blanket the hard-knitting folk of Manchester (and beyond!) knitted as part of a campaign to reduce maternal mortality... for more information check out our events page!

Beach Outreach - Don't drop the Beachball on Aid!

Taking advantage of the beautiful sunny weekend, our group of friendly campaigners took the 'Don't drop the ball on aid' campaign to the beach in Blackpool on Sunday, 27th June. With huge orange beach balls helping us in spreading the word about commitment to foreign aid, campaigners were ready for an action packed Beach Outreach.

Oxfam Talk: Climate Change Adaptation Projects in Western Uganda

Nicola Sansom, Activism and Community Campaigner with Oxfam, went to Uganda earlier in the year. She will give a talk about the climate change adaptation projects she visited, sharing stories and pictures of the people she met, and their struggles and hope.
Entertaining, inspiring and informative!

6.30-7pm, Monday 5 July, meeting rooms A & B, Greenfish Resource Centre, 46-50 Oldham Street, Manchester, M4 1LE

Beach Outreach next Sunday!

We're looking for 4 volunteers to join members of the Manchester Oxfam Campaigns group in a bit of campaigning on the beach in Blackpool next Sunday!

What?
We'll be campaigning for Don't Drop the Ball on Aid - a really fun and interactive campaign with an important message - see http://www.oxfam.org.uk/get_involved/campaign/health_and_education/dontd...
We'll be taking video cameras and some beach balls and asking the public to do a keepy-uppy to show their support for the campaign for promises to be kept on aid.

When and where?
