Exhibition: MOMM:1400 Blanket

A giant baby blanket made by Manchester people to campaign for justice for pregnant women and new mothers worldwide. Each of the 1400 squares was knitted to represent a women dying each day through lack of healthcare in poor countries.

Talk: Climate Change Adaptation in Western Uganda, followed by group meeting

Nicola Sansom, Activism and Community Campaigner with Oxfam, went to Uganda earlier in the year. She will give a talk about the climate change adaptation projects she visited, sharing stories and pictures of the people she met, and their struggles and hope.

May campaign - combating HIV/AIDS and infectious diseases

Letter writing to MPs at the Oxfam Didsbury shop...

Derin, Mike and Julie will be in attendance to get letters signed and sent to local MPs to remind them not to go back on their promises to meet the Millenium Development Goals, specifically around Combating HIV/AIDS and Infectious Diseases.

They will be in the shop from 12pm – 4pm. Anyone who wants to come along and help, sign a letter, or do some shopping is very welcome!

Fundraiser / MDG campaigning

Oxfam volunteers will be out shaking buckets in central Manchester to raise some much needed funds for Oxfam between 10am-6pm on Saturday 17 April.

If you can come along and help we're asking people to sign up to a 3 hour slot by contacting HMcHugh@oxfam.org.uk

The Manchester Oxfam Campaigners group will also be present doing some campaigning on the Millennium Development Goals campaign - April's MDG is 'End Poverty and Hunger'... to find out more use the 'contact us' button on this page (top, right).

Manchester Oxfam at International Women's Day

We'll be campaigning on maternal mortality at the city council's International Women's Day event, 1-4pm, Sunday 7 March... why not pop along and see us...
We'll be raising awareness about the issue of women in dying uneccessarily in pregnancy and childbirth due to a lack of healthcare, and inviting people to make mothers' day cards to call for action!
The event takes place in Manchester Town Hall, Albert Sq, M60 2LA
